Guatemala Volcano Relief

As you may have heard the Volcan de Fuego in Guatemala has erupted multiple times and has devastated multiple villages along its base. We are fine but there are families that have been impacted by the eruption and landslides, many have lost loved ones, homes, literally everything and need to restart their lives. Some people are being flown to the US to receive treatment for severe burns from the hot gases and lava. OARM is currently raising funds to send much needed help to the victims. We will be purchasing, in Guatemala; Bottled water, diapers, toilet paper, bars of soap, baby wipes, tampax, brooms, disinfectant, gauze, bandage tape, bandages, tylenol, tylenol for kids, eye drops, canned goods, and baby formula. We will be heading into ground zero to distribute the items.

Upcoming Missions

Blessings family and friends,

We are getting ready for the next six weeks, clinics, clinics and more clinics! We will be visiting the town of Santa Elena and Chiapas Mexico. The last four months have been pretty thin concerning medicine donations but thank God we are back on track, thanks to MAP International for their generous donation. Those who are familiar with our ministry you may remember that we posted a video of us driving through a river to get to our destination, well that’s Santa Elena and we are going back! This town is currently suffering an outbreak of respiratory and skin infections due to the flooding Guatemala has experienced in the last three weeks.  Here are two pictures from our last visit, this will give you an idea on how the increased humidity and floods are affecting the villages along the river.

300 patients were attended during our last visit, 70% of them were children under the age of 12.  We are projecting to see 300-400 patients with this next visit.  The Lord is also opening doors for us to do missions in Chiapas Mexico,  we will be partnering with a local church in Tapachula, our focus will be the rising homeless population.  Our mission will be to provide the homeless with a free medical check-up, a shower, clean clothes and a hot meal.  In December of last year we did a similar project with the homeless in Fraijanes Guatemala, we are making plans to go back in August to check-up on our patients and follow up with local churches on the projects they committed to do.

You can begin helping us pray for the following:

  1. Ministry vehicle repairs: Tune-up, Alternator, and new tires.
  2. 5 Medicine storage bins need replacing
  3. Purchase new ministry laptop
  4. Two mattresses in guest rooms used for small short term teams needs replacement.
  5. Couch in missions lounge for short term teams needs replacing after 10 years.
  6. Pray for the Huitz family, that the Lord will continue to use them to bless the people of Guatemala.

Thank you all for your prayers and financial support, together we are doing great things for the kingdom in Guatemala.

Blessings,

David, Katherine, Ali & Ely

Ready for more!

Blessings family and friends,

We are having a good year so far here in Guatemala, clinics are ready to go, family retreats are ready and we are currently planning a street evangelism activity for valentine’s day.  As you may not know the school year here starts in January and through God’s faithfulness our two little girls are back in the routine.

Unfortunately there is another side to the coin, we lost two very dear friends and fellow ministers recently Hugo and Jill. Hugo passed away due to cardiac arrest complicated by a diabetic coma. He was an inspiration to us and was loved by many children everywhere, Hugo was a children’s ministry missionary. Our two daughters loved him very much. Please keep his wife and two children in your prayers.

Jill was a teacher in a Christian School here in Guatemala but she was also a missionary to many children. Jill had cancer, and some may say that she lost her fight to cancer but I say that Jill beat it because she never stopped doing what she loved. Please keep her children in your prayers. Hugo and Jill live on in our hearts and in the hearts of many children.

Although the loss is hard there is still much work to be done.  We are receiving much needed medicine this weekend and as well as mechanical work done on the ministry vehicle. We are revved up to see patients and help families in need, with 10 upcoming outreach clinics.

Please keep us in your prayers as we are trusting God for many people to recieve help and restoration.

Thank you all for your prayers and support! Without the Lord and your help we would not be able to continue.

Thank You!

David, Katherine, Ali & Ely

Take a minute to check out some of the pictures from last month’s medical clinics.

A brief summary of what we encountered in Santa Rosa, Guatemala.

100 year old patient with COPD, a women who couldn’t afford shoes received a new pair of shoes courtesy of a team member, a women with a cyst on her head finally recieved treatment, a 15 year old girl had a Botfly removed from her thigh, dozens of mal-nourashed children recieved vitamins and anti-parasite treatment, a team of Doctors, medical student and church members working together for one cause….priceless!

When people get together to help one another great things happen. A total of 2,800 prescriptions were in three days, thats 933 per day! On average the team saw over 300 cases per day, some simple and others heart breaking. Without the geneours support that our amzing support staff Kathy and I would not be able to continue this ministry. Thank you to all of those who’s generousity made this possible.

In Christ,

David, Kathy, Ali & Ely

Coup d’état in Guatemala

Blessings family and friends, in light of the emails asking if we were affected by the earthquake in Mexico, the answer is no. We are doing well, but at this time Guatemala is experiencing a difficult political time as the socialist party and several University special interest groups are trying to conduct a coup today against the current president and his cabinet. No government is perfect but Guatemala is country torn by corruption and the current President has done his best to maintain his integrity.

Please keep us in your prayers as this may have dire consequences for the future of Guatemala.

News from Costa Rica

Blessings to all our followers and supporters.  The mission and church in Costa Rica is in continue growth and expanding to other areas in San Carlos area.  Pastor Fernando and Carmen Perez are doing an extraordinary work in the main church in Ciudad Quesada.  After a strong warfare during 2016 they have moved forward and the church is responding to the call for these days.  Main church is at a new rental place but looking to find there own place.
The group from Sucre has a place of worship and are looking for a bigger place because is getting small already.
San Ramon group continue, even do, there is a spiritual battle.
La Palmera group is in a revival move due to the construction of the church building.  People are very exited about it.  The already prepare the site and started the construction. The church is in process of collecting funds to continue to the next phase (the roof).

We need your help. This project is funded by the local church and the generosity of people like you.  With only the local church funds it will take longer to fulfill this project.  With your donation of $10, $20 or what ever God indicate to your heart, we can accomplish this task.
We pray for you, for your finances, for you to become part of this beautiful project which is a blessing to La Palmera community.

God Bless you!
